The Fall 2021 Session of the PCA After-School Enrichment Classes is almost here! As with last spring, these classes will be in-person and held outside with the exception of one virtual option noted below. Please read on to find more information about the process and class offerings.
Sign-Up Process
• TO REGISTER: Visit the google link on the PCA Website at 9pm on Monday, October 4th, 2021, and links to individual class signups will be available. Registration ends at 9pm on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021.
• PAYMENT: Payment must be made by credit card online when you register.
• WAITLIST: Spots are given on a first come-first serve basis, once you complete the online registration/payment. If the class you are interested in is full, please email scpcaenrichment@gmail.com to be placed on a waitlist. In your email, indicate your child’s name, grade, teacher and the class you are interested in. We will contact you if a spot becomes available. This is the ONLY way to be added to a waitlist!
• SCHOLARSHIPS: A limited number of need-based scholarships are available; please contact Mrs. Wojcik for more information prior to registration.
• REFUND POLICY: We cannot issue refunds once registration and payment has been made.

Chess – (Virtual) Chess Nuts – Grades 1-5, (8 students min., 12 students max.)
-Description: Don’t miss out on the chance to learn and improve your chess skills, followed by coached playing time! In addition to the lesson and coaching, this one hour weekly program features the opportunity for students to play unlimited chess games against other students anytime during the 8-week session! Science Museum of Long Island– Grades 1-5 (8 students min., 15 students max.) Description: Join the Science Museum of Long Island as we explore science through experiments and demonstrations. With different topics and hands-on activities each week, our workshop offers an excellent opportunity to fuel curiosity and engage in scientific discovery. We’ll explore physics, create STEM-focused contractions, meet live animals, and more! Instructor: Science Museum Counselor

Working with the successful youth club team, Lasting Legacy, students will learn beginner skills for this exciting sport! Passing, stick handling, drills, small game play and teamwork are just some of the skills kids will learn during this fun program. Instructor: Lasting Legacy Coach

Tennis – *Grades 3-5 (10 students max., *may bring own racquet or one can be loaned) -Description: Whether this is your student’s first exposure to tennis or you’re looking to take your student’s game to the next level, join the pros from Robbie Wagner Tournament Training Center learning and playing this amazing sport. Students of all levels will hone their skills in a fun environment. Age appropriate nets and tennis balls will be used for each group. Instructor: Pro from Robbie Wagner Training Center

Art Journaling – Grades 3-5 (10 students max.)
-Description: Join artist Patricia Kaegi Weiss for an exploratory art journaling course. We will draw, paint, and collage our way through the fall using the outdoors as our inspiration. Art journaling expands the mind and is a wonderful form of meditation that the young artists will use to their benefit. Patricia is there to guide the children through the projects and will help them to hone their drawing and creative skills by working with different forms of media and recreating the world around them. Snapology presents Kinderbots – Grades K-2 (15 students max.)
-Description: Snapology believes that children are meant to learn through play. When children are engaged in interactive, hands-on learning activities, their creativity flourishes and they show an increased interest in school. In this class, children will begin to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design. Whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands, or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building helicopters and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time. Snapology presents Brick Art and Design Lab – Grades 3-5 (6 students min., 15 students max.) Description: Snapology believes that children are meant to learn through play. When children are engaged in interactive, hands-on learning activities, their creativity flourishes and they show an increased interest in school. In this class, your child will learn about different types of art and the periods in which they were created, and students will be interpreting what they see and creating their own works of art using LEGO® bricks. Through Snapology’s interactive Art History class, children will learn about Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, Wright’s Falling Water, and many more! Jazz Hands – Grades 2-5 (8 students min., 15 students max.) Description: Join Steven Dahlke, Music Director of Jazz Hands Children’s Theater, for this beginner musical theater class. Students will learn the basics of healthy vocal technique and effective performance, while practicing teamwork and building self-confidence. Material will include group and solo songs (where appropriate), along with simple movement and improvisation based spoken dialogue.
