Sea Cliff PCA Meeting Minutes October 1, 2014
The newcomers breakfast and first PCA meeting for the school year was a great success with over 50 attendees.
AGENDA

- Welcome and thank you to volunteers and committee’s for September events:
- Thank you to Alison, Tina and volunteers for planning the back to school carnival
- Thank you to Lisa Leddeon for organizing Playground and Popsicles
- Thank you to Beatrice and Heather for coordinating the Newcomers Breakfast
SEPTA co-presidents Linda LaMArca and Gayle D’Aversa
- Septa is open to entire district for special and general education
Important Dates:
- October 22 Guest Speaker for Different Apps for Kids
- November Guest Speaker is a child advocate for children with IEP
- All meetings are at 7:30 in the HS library
Adult Library: Arlene Nevins
- *Please see attachment regarding programs available to children including online tutors, encyclopedias, museum passes and ebooks
Principal’s Report: Mr. Zublionis
- Discussed the SC Seven Value Set including GRIT and Growth Mindset
- All students viewed the video ‘Sea Cliff School Knowing Who You Are’
- There will be a monthly Mindfulness Curriculum for all students
- ‘Better World Builder Days” Green Committee goal is to take the small spaces and provide a space for each grade
- Goal is for hands on work by students working outside if the classroom
- There will be an incentive for Sea Cliff representation at the Homecoming on October 18th. A reward will be given to the grade with most attendance
- We are installing a new SC School sign It will be a customized victorian sign with the help of Miss G representing the SC community
- We are moving away from bringing in food to celebrate birthdays
- New Carpool system is very successful

- Proposed budget was approved
- Farmigo and enrichment programs are most successful fundraisers for SC school

- Farmigo: We need volunteers for Wed food pick up 2:30-4:00pm
- Please contact Nedra to volunteer
- Nutrition Committee meeting Tuesday October 7 at 8:45 in the cafeteria

- Sign up sheets for all events are on the PCA website
Dignity Diplomat Program: Dr Behar and Mr Zublionis
- Dr Behar created this program in response to the NYS Dignity for all Students Act July 2012
- This is an evolving peer mediation program that will teach 5th graders to be diplomats to resolve conflicts peacefully
Q & A with Mr Z
- Question regarding common core math. SC performance for math is up
- There will be an evening to explain curriculum changes and the district wide report card changes.
